General Assembly (Unitarian Universalist Association) - Events

Events

Plenary Sessions at General Assembly consist of discussing and voting on Study Action Issues and Statements of Conscience; elections for Board of Trustees, officer and committee positions; and reports from the President, Moderator and other leaders of the UUA.

In addition, the event is keynoted by the Ware Lectures, which are offered by individuals selected by the GA Planning Committee; they have been held since 1922 by the preceding American Unitarian Association in honor of Harriet E. Ware, who bequeathed $5,000 to the AUA. The 2013 Ware Lecturer is Eboo Patel.

Famous quotes containing the word events:

Nothing that grieves us can be called little: by the eternal laws of proportion a child’s loss of a doll and a king’s loss of a crown are events of the same size.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

By the power elite, we refer to those political, economic, and military circles which as an intricate set of overlapping cliques share decisions having at least national consequences. In so far as national events are decided, the power elite are those who decide them.
    C. Wright Mills (1916–1962)

The prime lesson the social sciences can learn from the natural sciences is just this: that it is necessary to press on to find the positive conditions under which desired events take place, and that these can be just as scientifically investigated as can instances of negative correlation. This problem is beyond relativity.
    Ruth Benedict (1887–1948)
