Structure
The Gendarmerie Nationale is a centrally controlled 3,700 member paramilitary police force that provides police across Niger modeled on the French Gendarmerie. It is uniformed, ranked and trained in military fashion. It provides policing outside those jurisdictions policed by the Police Nationale, usually smaller towns and rural areas. The GN falls under the Armed Forces of Niger, and is commanded by the "Haut commandant de la Gendarmerie Nationale" ("High Commandant of the GN"), in 2008 Colonel Harouna Djibo Hamani.

Famous quotes containing the word structure:
“With sixty staring me in the face, I have developed inflammation of the sentence structure and definite hardening of the paragraphs.”
—James Thurber (18941961)
“There is no such thing as a language, not if a language is anything like what many philosophers and linguists have supposed. There is therefore no such thing to be learned, mastered, or born with. We must give up the idea of a clearly defined shared structure which language-users acquire and then apply to cases.”
—Donald Davidson (b. 1917)
“One theme links together these new proposals for family policythe idea that the family is exceedingly durable. Changes in structure and function and individual roles are not to be confused with the collapse of the family. Families remain more important in the lives of children than other institutions. Family ties are stronger and more vital than many of us imagine in the perennial atmosphere of crisis surrounding the subject.”
—Joseph Featherstone (20th century)
