Race History
Introduced in 2001 to the NASCAR circuit as the Tropicana 400, the race has seen five different winners in its first six years, with Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart being the only repeat winners. The race is now sponsored by the insurance giant GEICO after USG Corporation and LifeLock served as sponsors.

Famous quotes containing the words race and/or history:
“You sang far better than you knew; the songs
That for your listeners hungry hearts sufficed
Still live, but more than this to you belongs:
You sang a race from wood and stone to Christ.”
—James Weldon Johnson (18711938)
“The thing that struck me forcefully was the feeling of great age about the place. Standing on that old parade ground, which is now a cricket field, I could feel the dead generations crowding me. Here was the oldest settlement of freedmen in the Western world, no doubt. Men who had thrown off the bands of slavery by their own courage and ingenuity. The courage and daring of the Maroons strike like a purple beam across the history of Jamaica.”
—Zora Neale Hurston (18911960)
