Geelong Cricket Club

Geelong Cricket Club is an Australian cricket club located in the Victorian city of Geelong. The club is part of the Victorian Premier Cricket, the highest level of cricket in Victoria. Their home ground is Geelong Cricket Ground, Kardinia Park, just to the north of Skilled Stadium the home of the Geelong Football Club.

The club was part of a joint venture with North Melbourne Cricket Club from 1985 to 1988 that was seen as assisting their bid for promotion from the sub districts to Victorian Premier Cricket, finally successful in 1993–94. The club is yet to win a premiership; their best effort was runner-up to Ringwood Cricket Club in 2007–08.

Players from the club who have represented the Victorian Bushrangers include Clinton Peake, Liam Buchanan and Aaron Finch.

Famous quotes containing the words cricket and/or club:

    All cries are thin and terse;
    The field has droned the summer’s final mass;
    A cricket like a dwindled hearse
    Crawls from the dry grass.
    Richard Wilbur (b. 1921)

    The barriers of conventionality have been raised so high, and so strangely cemented by long existence, that the only hope of overthrowing them exists in the union of numbers linked together by common opinion and effort ... the united watchword of thousands would strike at the foundation of the false system and annihilate it.
