Gavril Atanasov was a famous icon 19th century painter from the region of Macedonia. He painted mainly around Berovo (Malesh region). In many arts (icons) he has sign as "Gavril Atanasov-The Macedonian".
One of the monasteries where his painting can be found is the St. Arhangel Mihail Monastery in Berovo (http://www.mpc.org.mk/MPC/SE/berovo.asp).
