History
The district was created on 9 June 1997 by renaming Naveen Okhla and getting land out of rural areas of Bulandshahr and Ghaziabad districts.
It has a total area of 1442 km2. Because of its proximity to Delhi and better infrastructure facilities as compared to other districts in Uttar Pradesh, it is proving itself to be the favorite and most important investment destination for major companies and industries in India. At present, major industrial areas in the district are Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri and area along Yamuna Expressway.
The historical village Rampur Jagir/Jahangir where the great revolutionary Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil lived for some time in 1919 when he was hidden underground after Mainpuri conspiracy also comes under its jurisdiction. Simply a park has been named after him by the U.P. government. but nothing was done further by the district administration during the Mayawati's regime.
