Many individuals who are considering bariatric surgery as a means of solving severe obesity look to insurance for coverage. Their goal is to obtain coverage for expenses like laboratory and surgical fees. To be considered for coverage, patients usually need to:
- Send in a letter of medical requisite for a bariatric surgeon
- Provide documentation of a medically-supervised diet
- Provide evidence of failed attempts to lose weight via diet and exercise.
