Personal Life
He and his wife DeLeon reside in Tampa, Florida during the off-season. They have three sons. Sheffield has four other children from previous relationships. DeLeon is a gospel recording artist and has sung the National Anthem at both the old Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium. In October 1995, Sheffield was shot in his left shoulder after an attempted robbery when he stopped his car at a traffic light. He now is an assistant coach on his son's youth tackle football league in Tampa. He coaches on the TBYFL (Tampa Bay Youth Football Leagues) Nuccio Jaguars.
