Garter Snake - Baby Garter Snakes As Pets

Baby Garter Snakes As Pets

Baby Garter snakes shed their first skin almost immediately, and will begin eating soon after. The first shedding is very fine and often disintegrates in minutes under the slithering masses of new snakes. Feeding baby Garter snakes can be tricky, most often mealworms, goldfish, tadpoles, and pinkies (thawed fully and waved before the snake) will entice appetites. Don't be alarmed if it is a few weeks before a baby Gartner snake eats; it takes them some time to become accustomed to new settings.

Famous quotes containing the words baby, garter, snakes and/or pets:

Let’s just call what happened in the eighties the reclamation of motherhood . . . by women I knew and loved, hard-driving women with major careers who were after not just babies per se or motherhood per se, but after a reconciliation with their memories of their own mothers. So having a baby wasn’t just having a baby. It became a major healing.
    Anne Taylor Fleming (20th century)

When first this order was ordained, my lords,
Knights of the Garter were of noble birth,
Valiant and virtuous, full of haughty courage.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Granddaddy used to handle snakes in church. Granny drank strychnine. I guess you could say I had a leg up, genetically speaking.
Wesley Strick, U.S. screenwriter, and Martin Scorsese. Max Cady (Robert DeNiro)

We died like aunts of pets or foreigners.
    Randall Jarrell (1914–1965)
