Famous quotes containing the words bbc, world and/or live:
“The word conservative is used by the BBC as a portmanteau word of abuse for anyone whose views differ from the insufferable, smug, sanctimonious, naive, guilt-ridden, wet, pink orthodoxy of that sunset home of the third-rate minds of that third-rate decade, the nineteen-sixties.”
—Norman Tebbit (b. 1931)
“The world there was the flat world of the ancients; to the east, a cornfield that stretched to daybreak; to the west, a corral that reached to the sunset; between, the conquests of peace, dearer-bought than those of war.”
—Willa Cather (18731947)
“Oh, if I could but live another century and see the fruition of all the work for women! There is so much yet to be done.”
—Susan B. Anthony (18201906)
