Retconning
The series was one of Yoshiyuki Tomino's early visions of the future of the Gundam universe. The novels and radio dramas have now both been invalidated by the words and later works released by media giant Bandai (Gundam's owner) such as G-Saviour, and the novels are now considered to take place in an alternate history.
