Fritz Wepper - Life and Work

Life and Work

He has been married to Angela Prinzessin von Hohenzollern (née von Morgen) since 1979, and they have one daughter, Sophie. They live in Munich.

His character Harry Klein, the assistant in Derrick, became a cult figure all over the world.

Before playing Klein in Derrick he portrayed the same character on the popular television drama Der Kommissar (1969–1976) from the series' start until 1974 when he was transferred to Derrick. Harry Klein was replaced by his brother Erwin (played by Fritz Wepper's brother Elmar Wepper).

In 1972 he played Fritz Wendel, a Jew passing as a Christian, in Bob Fosse's film version of Cabaret (1972), opposite Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey and Michael York.

Famous quotes containing the words life and/or work:

City people try to buy time as a rule, when they can, whereas country people are prepared to kill time, although both try to cherish in their mind’s eye the notion of a better life ahead.
    Edward Hoagland (b. 1932)

Memory is a wonderfully useful tool, and without it judgement does its work with difficulty; it is entirely lacking in me.... Now, the more I distrust my memory, the more confused it becomes. It serves me better by chance encounter; I have to solicit it nonchalantly. For if I press it, it is stunned; and once it has begun to totter, the more I probe it, the more it gets mixed up and embarrassed. It serves me at its own time, not at mine.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
