Quality
Satellite transmissions are broadcast in 576i, but the satellite transponder is high-definition capable. Terrestrial transmissions can be broadcast in high definition, and the government lets the broadcasters decide whether to broadcast in high definition or to continue in standard definition.
Three channels currently broadcast in high definition: TV ONE, TV2 and TV3 in 1080i.
Freeview satellite broadcasts have declined in quality since the service launched as TV one and TV 3 is now being broadcast many times to provide region-specific advertisements; this reduces the bandwidth available to other channels on that frequency.
The TVNZ frequency currently has 8 SD channels while the MediaWorks one has 12 TV channels and 5 radio channels.

Famous quotes containing the word quality:
“Taste is the fundamental quality which sums up all the other qualities. It is the nec plus ultra of the intelligence. Through this alone is genius the supreme health and balance of all the faculties.”

“Indeed, it is that ambiguity and ambivalence which often is so puzzling in womenthe quality of shifting from child to woman, the seeming helplessness one moment and the utter self-reliance the next that baffle us, that seem most difficult to understand. These are the qualities that make her a mystery, the qualities that provoked Freud to complain, What does a woman want?”
—Lillian Breslow Rubin (20th century)
“The courage of a soldier is found to be the cheapest and most common quality of human nature.”
—Edward Gibbon (17371794)
