Free The Children is an international charity and youth movement founded in 1995 by children's rights advocate Craig Kielburger. The organization is largely youth-funded, based on the concept of "children helping children". It specializes in sustainable development in the countries of Ecuador, Ghana, Haiti, India, Kenya, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, as well as Rural China. In developed countries, the organization runs educational campaigns, with the aim of empowering youth to become socially engaged.

Famous quotes containing the words free and/or children:
“The brisk fond lackey to fetch and carry,
The true, sick-hearted slave,
Expect him not in the just city
And free land of the grave.”
—A.E. (Alfred Edward)
“If the children and youth of a nation are afforded opportunity to develop their capacities to the fullest, if they are given the knowledge to understand the world and the wisdom to change it, then the prospects for the future are bright. In contrast, a society which neglects its children, however well it may function in other respects, risks eventual disorganization and demise.”
—Urie Bronfenbrenner (b. 1917)
