Free Social Democrats

Free Social Democrats (Danish: Frie Socialdemokrater) was a political party in Denmark. It was founded in 1920 by Emil Marott. He had been a Member of Parliament 1903-1920 for the Social Democrats. In 1920 he had been expelled from the party because of diverging opinions on the Schleswig issue.

The Free Social Democrats contested all three Folketing elections held in 1920, but did not win representation.

Famous quotes containing the words free, social and/or democrats:

The Government is able to afford a suitable army and a suitable navy. It may maintain them without the slightest danger to the Republic or the cause of free institutions, and fear of additional taxation ought not to change a proper policy in this regard.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

The weakness of modern tragedy ... [is that] transgression against the social code is made to bring destruction, as though the social code worked our irrevocable fate.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

In all history no class has been enfranchised without some selfish motive underlying. If to-day we could prove to Republicans or Democrats that every woman would vote for their party, we should be enfranchised.
    Carrie Chapman Catt (1859–1947)
