Famous quotes containing the words franklin, monroe, high and/or school:

A benevolent man should allow a few faults in himself, to keep his friends in countenance.
    —Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790)

Fame will go by and, so long, I’ve had you, fame. If it goes by, I’ve always known it was fickle. So at least it’s something I experienced, but that’s not where I live.
    —Marilyn Monroe (1926–1962)

While yet a boy I sought for ghosts, and sped
Through many a listening chamber, cave and ruin,
And starlight wood, with fearful steps pursuing
Hopes of high talk with the departed dead.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

It’s a rare parent who can see his or her child clearly and objectively. At a school board meeting I attended . . . the only definition of a gifted child on which everyone in the audience could agree was “mine.”
    Jane Adams (20th century)
