Pullen was also able to indulge in his lifelong passion of horse racing, training and breeding, adopting the colours Chocolate and Blue for his Racing silks . His friends included Peter Bromley, racing commentator, and Pullen went on to be a popular owner with a string of race horses most famously at Josh Gifford's yard in Findon, Sussex. Famous quotes containing the words race and/or horses:
“I cannot praise a fugitive and cloistered virtue, unexercised and unbreathed, that never sallies out and sees her adversary, but slinks out of the race where that immortal garland is to be run for, not without dust and heat.”
—John Milton (16081674)
“Kings and queens who wear a suit but once, though made by some tailor or dressmaker to their majesties, cannot know the comfort of wearing a suit that fits. They are no better than wooden horses to hang the clean clothes on.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
