Death
While on a trip to Ohio in 1920 to give anti-liquor lectures, he was involved in an automobile-train accident near Dennison, Ohio and died from his injuries. He is interred at Hillside Cemetery, near Williamsport, Indiana. Hanly is remembered as an enigmatic reformer and the Don Quixote for prohibition. He remains one of Indiana's most controversial governors.
