Famous quotes containing the words works, part and/or thompson:
“The ancients of the ideal description, instead of trying to turn their impracticable chimeras, as does the modern dreamer, into social and political prodigies, deposited them in great works of art, which still live while states and constitutions have perished, bequeathing to posterity not shameful defects but triumphant successes.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“The best part of the art of living is to know how to grow old gracefully.”
—Eric Hoffer (19021983)
“She went her unremembering way,
She went and left in me
The pang of all the partings gone,
And partings yet to be.”
—Francis Thompson (18591907)
