FiF was formed in 1992 as a coalition of some previous Catholic societies in the Church of England and elsewhere opposed to the ordination of women. It also tends to take a more traditionalist line on matters of liturgy, ecclesiology, Christology and the authority of scripture. As of 2005 there are more than 800 member parishes around the world.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“These anyway might think it was important
That human history should not be shortened.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“Dont give your opinions about Art and the Purpose of Life. They are of little interest and, anyway, you cant express them. Dont analyse yourself. Give the relevant facts and let your readers make their own judgments. Stick to your story. It is not the most important subject in history but it is one about which you are uniquely qualified to speak.”
—Evelyn Waugh (19031966)
“... the history of the race, from infancy through its stages of barbarism, heathenism, civilization, and Christianity, is a process of suffering, as the lower principles of humanity are gradually subjected to the higher.”
—Catherine E. Beecher (18001878)
