Forth Estuary Transport Authority

The Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA) is the authority responsible for the maintenance of the Forth Road Bridge over the Firth of Forth in eastern central Scotland. FETA was created in 2001 by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 - to replace the Forth Road Bridge Joint Board.

The board of FETA has ten members, allocated as follows:

  • four to the City of Edinburgh
  • four to Fife Council
  • one to the Perth and Kinross Council
  • one to West Lothian Council

As of 2005 FETA, and the Scottish Executive, is considering the construction of a second Forth Road Bridge near the existing structure at Queensferry. This would be in addition to the ongoing works on a replacement to the Kincardine Bridge over the River Forth twenty miles west of Queensferry.

Famous quotes containing the words estuary, transport and/or authority:

There is regret. Always, there is regret.
But it is better that our lives unloose,
As two tall ships, wind-mastered, wet with light,
Break from an estuary with their courses set,
And waving part, and waving drop from sight.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

One may disavow and disclaim vices that surprise us, and whereto our passions transport us; but those which by long habits are rooted in a strong and ... powerful will are not subject to contradiction. Repentance is but a denying of our will, and an opposition of our fantasies.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

I believe I’m a better authority than anybody else in America on my own wife. I have never known a person with a stronger sense of right and wrong in my life—ever.
    Bill Clinton (b. 1946)
