Fordham (Metro-North Station) - Platform and Track Configuration

Platform and Track Configuration

This station has two high-level side platforms each eight cars long. Both are accessible via stairways from the station building and from Fordham Plaza.

The western platform, adjacent to Track 4, is generally used by southbound or Manhattan-bound trains. This is the platform where New Haven Line trains discharge passengers. The eastern platform, adjacent to Track 3, is generally used by northbound trains headed toward Westchester County, Putnam County, Dutchess County, or Connecticut. This is the platform where New Haven Line trains receive passengers.

The rail line has four tracks at this location. The two inner tracks not adjacent to either platform are used only by express trains.

Famous quotes containing the words platform and/or track:

I have never yet spoken from a public platform about women in industry that someone has not said, “But things are far better than they used to be.” I confess to impatience with persons who are satisfied with a dangerously slow tempo of progress for half of society in an age which requires a much faster tempo than in the days that “used to be.” Let us use what might be instead of what has been as our yardstick!
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can’t say—I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.
    Harriet Tubman (1821–1913)
