The foot sweep (also footsweep) is a move in many different styles of martial arts. It is used to trip an opponent. Foot sweeps are commonly used in Tang Soo Do, karate, and jujutsu. In addition, many closer sweeps like the Trap Sweep and Two-Leg Sweep can resemble Judo throws.
Famous quotes containing the words foot and/or sweep:
“There is a distinction to be drawn between true collectors and accumulators. Collectors are discriminating; accumulators act at random. The Collyer brothers, who died among the tons of newspapers and trash with which they filled every cubic foot of their house so that they could scarcely move, were a classic example of accumulators, but there are many of us whose houses are filled with all manner of things that we cant bear to throw away.”
—Russell Lynes (19101991)
“Haste me to know it, that I with wings as swift
As meditation, or the thoughts of love,
May sweep to my revenge.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
