Famous quotes containing the word purchase:
“Riches are valuable at all times, and to all men; because they always purchase pleasures, such as men are accustomed to, and desire: Nor can any thing restrain or regulate the love of money, but a sense of honour and virtue; which, if it be not nearly equal at all times, will naturally abound most in ages of knowledge and refinement.”
—David Hume (1711–1776)
“O, let us have him, for his silver hairs
Will purchase us a good opinion,
And buy men’s voices to commend our deeds.”
—William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
“How happy a thing were a wedding,
And a bedding,
If a man might purchase a wife
For a twelvemonth and a day;”
—Thomas Flatman (1637–1688)
