In writing the original drafts that formed the basis of the final screenplay, Tony Bill made an effort to incorporate the real-life adventures of a number of American World War I expatriates who served in both the Lafayette Escadrille and the Lafayette Flying Corps, although pseudonyms were used throughout. The casting of James Franco in an action adventure feature at the time was considered a "stepping stone" to his rise as marquee player and movie star.

Famous quotes containing the word cast:

The old man had heard that there was a wreck and knew most of the particulars, but he said that he had not been up there since it happened. It was the wrecked weed that concerned him most ... and those bodies were to him but other weeds which the tide cast up, but which were of no use to him.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I will not cast away my physic but on those that are sick.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

He is truly a man who will not permit himself to be unduly elated when fortune’s breeze is favorable, or cast down when it is adverse.
    Titus Livius (Livy)
