Florida State Road 23

Florida State Road 23

State Road 23, also known as the Branan Field-Chaffee Expressway, is a partially built western bypass of Jacksonville. Its south end is at SR 21 in Middleburg, and it is planned to continue south and east as a planned bridge over the St. Johns River (which will connect to SR 9B). The north end will be U.S. Route 90/SR 10 but currently terminates at Interstate 10 (unsigned SR 8). There is speculation about an extension as a northwest bypass to I-95 (unsigned SR 9). Currently it is a surface road, built on new right-of-way and the rebuilding of Branan Field Road, but there are plans, in the future, for a full freeway.

Famous quotes containing the words florida, state and/or road:

    In Florida consider the flamingo,
Its color passion but its neck a question.
    Robert Penn Warren (1905–1989)

Mead had studied for the ministry, but had lost his faith and took great delight in blasphemy. Capt. Charles H. Frady, pioneer missionary, held a meeting here and brought Mead back into the fold. He then became so devout that, one Sunday, when he happened upon a swimming party, he shot at the people in the river, and threatened to kill anyone he again caught desecrating the Sabbath.
—For the State of Nebraska, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

With only one life to live we can’t afford to live it only for itself. Somehow we must each for himself, find the way in which we can make our individual lives fit into the pattern of all the lives which surround it. We must establish our own relationships to the whole. And each must do it in his own way, using his own talents, relying on his own integrity and strength, climbing his own road to his own summit.
    Hortense Odlum (1892–?)
