Flight Of The Phoenix (2004 Film)

Flight of the Phoenix is a 2004 survival drama film and a remake of a 1965 film of the same name, both based on the 1964 novel The Flight of the Phoenix, by Elleston Trevor, about a group of people who survive an aircraft crash in the Gobi Desert and must build a new aircraft out of the old one to escape. The film stars Dennis Quaid and Giovanni Ribisi. Flight of the Phoenix opened in the U.S. on December 17. The film was a box-office failure, and received generally mixed to negative reviews; criticism was geared toward its similarity to the 1965 film, while praise donned on the acting, direction, and visuals.

Famous quotes containing the words flight and/or phoenix:

    The power of a text is different when it is read from when it is copied out.... Only the copied text thus commands the soul of him who is occupied with it, whereas the mere reader never discovers the new aspects of his inner self that are opened by the text, that road cut through the interior jungle forever closing behind it: because the reader follows the movement of his mind in the free flight of day-dreaming, whereas the copier submits it to command.
    Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)

    Devouring Time, blunt thou the lion’s paws,
    And make the earth devour her own sweet brood;
    Pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger’s jaws,
    And burn the long-liv’d phoenix in her blood;
    Make glad and sorry seasons as thou fleet’st,
    And do what’er thou wilt, swift-footed Time,
    To the wide world and all her fading sweets;
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
