Flash And The Pan (album)

Flash and the Pan was Flash and the Pan's 1979 debut album release. The album covers differed between the Australian release and UK release (shown below). The track "And The Band Played On (Down Among the Dead Men)" — about the sinking of the Titanic — was released as a UK single, reaching No. 54 in September 1978.

"Walking in the Rain" was later covered by Grace Jones, as part of her 1981 Nightclubbing album. The song was also recorded by South African icon Johannes Kerkorrel, who included it on his album Die Ander Kant in 2000.

Famous quotes containing the words flash and/or pan:

    Here lies a man who was killed by lightning;
    He died when his prospects seemed to be brightening.
    He might have cut a flash in this world of trouble,
    But the flash cut him, and he lies in the stubble.
    Anonymous. From Booth, Epigrams Ancient and Modern (1863)

    I can’t accept “our nervous age,” since mankind has been nervous during every age. Whoever fears nervousness should turn into a sturgeon or smelt; if a sturgeon makes a stupid mistake, it can only be one: to end up on a hook, and then in a pan in a pastry shell.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
