World Peace Flag
The Universal Peace Congress developed a flag of "the earth on a blue field covered with white stars" to be used as a peace flag.
James William van Kirk, a minister from Youngstown (Ohio, USA), designed this peace flag with rainbow stripes, stars and the globe. He made in 1913 and 1929 with this flag a peace tour through Europe.

Famous quotes containing the words world, peace and/or flag:
“What has history to do with me? Mine is the first and only world! I want to report how I find the world. What others have told me about the world is a very small and incidental part of my experience. I have to judge the world, to measure things.”
—Ludwig Wittgenstein (18891951)
“My mother always used to say, There is no path to peace. Peace is the path.”
—Donald Freed, U.S. screenwriter, and Arnold M. Stone. Robert Altman. Richard Nixon (Philip Baker Hall)
“Here, the flag snaps in the glare and silence
Of the unbroken ice. I stand here,
The dogs bark, my beard is black, and I stare
At the North Pole. . .
And now what? Why, go back.
Turn as I please, my step is to the south.”
—Randall Jarrell (19141965)
