King James II

John Roettier continued to design the dies for this denomination in the reign of King James II. In this reign, the weight of the coins varied between 41.5 and 42.0 grams. The kings' head faces left in this reign, and is surrounded by the inscription, while the obverse is the same as in Charles II's reign except for omitting the interlinked "C"s in the centre of the coin.

Famous quotes containing the words king and/or james:

Andrews: Do you mind if I ask a question frankly? Do you love my daughter?
Peter: Any guy that’d fall in love with your daughter ought to have his head examined.
    Andrews: Now that’s an evasion.
Peter: She grabbed herself a perfect running mate. King Westley! The pill of the century. What she needs is a guy that’d take a sock at her once a day, whether it’s coming to her or not.
    Robert Riskin (1897–1955)

...and when James and Cephas and John, who were acknowledged pillars, recognized the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
    Bible: New Testament, Galatians 2:9.
