Canadian alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies recorded a song for their 1989 demo tape Buck Naked called "Couldn't Care Less" in which there was a line where they sang "What are the five fruits in Five Alive juice?". During their live performances from that period they often responded to the question with either "apples, cheese, broccoli, pimento, and piglet" or "apples, cheese, broccoli, pimento, and blood."

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:

Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn’t argue with that; I’m right and I will be proved right. We’re more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first—rock and roll or Christianity.
    John Lennon (1940–1980)

I am writing to resist the view that Europe and civilization are going to Hell. If I am being “crucified for an idea”Mthat is, the coherent idea around which my muddles accumulated—it is probably the idea that European culture ought to survive, that the best qualities of it ought to survive along with whatever cultures, in whatever universality. Against the propaganda of terror and the propaganda of luxury, have you a nice simple answer?
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)
