First Warning (novel)

First Warning (2005) is a fantasy or science fiction novel by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough. It is the first book in the trilogy Acorna's Children, which is part of the Acorna Universe series that McCaffrey and Margaret Ball initiated in Acorna: The Unicorn Girl (1997).

First Warning chronicles the adventures of Khorii. She is the daughter of Acorna and Aari, main characters in the earlier books. It is a coming-of-age story in a sense, and as Khorii ages she learns to use the telepathic powers that are characteristic of all her people, the Linyaari.

Famous quotes containing the word warning:

No longer mourn for me when I am dead
Than you shall hear the surly sullen bell
Give warning to the world that I am fled
From this vile world, with vilest worms to dwell:
Nay, if you read this line, remember not
The hand that writ it; for I love you so,
That I in your sweet thoughts would be forgot,
If thinking on me then should make you woe.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
