Plot Introduction
Protector of the Small is set in the Tortallan world of Pierce's Song of the Lioness and The Immortals quartets. Ten years after King Jonathan declared it legal for women to train as knights, the young Keladry of Mindelan steps forward to try for her shield, and become a page. Despite the legality, and under the protest of the King's Champion Alanna the Lioness, King Jonathan of Conté and the palace training master Wyldon of Cavall place her on probation for her first year as a page.
