Fire Balloon - Post World War II

Post World War II

The remains of balloons continued to be discovered after the war. Eight were found in the 1940s, three in the 1950s and two in the 1960s. In 1978, a ballast ring, fuses and barometers were found near Agness, Oregon and are now part of the collection of the Coos Historical & Maritime Museum.

Famous quotes containing the words post, world and/or war:

I had rather be shut up in a very modest cottage, with my books, my family and a few old friends, dining on simple bacon, and letting the world roll on as it liked, than to occupy the most splendid post which any human power can give.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

... there is no such thing as a rational world and a separate irrational world, but only one world containing both.
    Robert Musil (1880–1942)

If we don’t end war, war will end us.
    —H.G. (Herbert George)
