Plot
As the title suggests, My Life as a Darklord is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. The protagonist, Mira, is the daughter of the Darklord, the antagonist of the previous game. She lives in a tower that she must defend from marauding adventurers by populating it with monsters and traps. You progress through the game by surviving hordes of enemies that are on adventures trying to destroy the crystal at the top of your tower.

“But, when to Sin our byast Nature leans,
The careful Devil is still at hand with means;
And providently Pimps for ill desires:
The Good Old Cause, revivd, a Plot requires,
Plots, true or false, are necessary things,
To raise up Common-wealths and ruine Kings.”
—John Dryden (16311700)
“The plot was most interesting. It belonged to no particular age, people, or country, and was perhaps the more delightful on that account, as nobodys previous information could afford the remotest glimmering of what would ever come of it.”
—Charles Dickens (18121870)
“The plot! The plot! What kind of plot could a poet possibly provide that is not surpassed by the thinking, feeling reader? Form alone is divine.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
