Philosophy

On October 1, 2006, Army Major and congressional candidate Tammy Duckworth made the weekly Democratic radio address blasting George W. Bush saying "Instead of a plan or a strategy, we get shallow slogans like 'mission accomplished' and 'stay the course,'" but "Those slogans are calculated to win an election. Famous quotes containing the word philosophy:

The philosopher believes that the value of his philosophy lies in its totality, in its structure: posterity discovers it in the stones with which he built and with which other structures are subsequently built that are frequently better—and so, in the fact that that structure can be demolished and yet still possess value as material.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Englishmen are babes in philosophy and so prefer faction-fighting to the labour of its unfamiliar thought.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Wonder is the feeling of the philosopher, and philosophy begins in wonder.
    Plato (c. 427–347 B.C.)
