FIFA Club World Cup

The FIFA Club World Cup is a football competition between the champion clubs from all six continental confederations.

The first FIFA Club World Championship took place in Brazil in January 2000. It ran in parallel with its equivalent Intercontinental Cup, contested annually since 1960 by the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the South American Copa Libertadores. Until the institution of the new competition, Intercontinental Cup holders were recognised de facto as world club champions. In 2005, FIFA Club World Championship absorbed the Intercontinental Cup and in 2006 took its current name (FIFA Club World Cup).

    I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
    I lift my eyes and all is born again.

    The cup of Morgan Fay is shattered.
    Life is a bitter sage,
    And we are weary infants
    In a palsied age.
