Background
According to A&R Miles Leonard, Fever was the album that Parlophone had envisioned when they first signed the artist in 1999 and wanted to reestablish her pop career. With its more direct approach, the first album with the new label, Light Years, had succeeded in reintroducing Minogue to a mainstream pop audience, but Fever brought to fruition the more electronic, programmed and contemporary sound that had always been in mind for Minogue. During the album's production, world famous pop singer Michael Jackson wrote two tracks for the US edition of the album: "I'll Try Anything Once" and "Time Bomb". However, neither of these songs were included on the final track list.
There are three different versions of the album cover. The original version had Minogue wearing white and holding a microphone, closely resembling the cover art of Grace Jones' compilation album Island Life. This version was distributed to Australia, Asia, Europe, Latin America and Canada. When the album was later released in the U.S. and re-issued (in some countries) in Asia, the cover was changed to a cover similar to that of "In Your Eyes". This cover is also available in Canada. The cover for the bonus disc edition is similar to the original, but with Minogue wearing a blue PVC costume instead.

Famous quotes containing the word background:
“Pilate with his question What is truth? is gladly trotted out these days as an advocate of Christ, so as to arouse the suspicion that everything known and knowable is an illusion and to erect the cross upon that gruesome background of the impossibility of knowledge.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“I had many problems in my conduct of the office being contrasted with President Kennedys conduct in the office, with my manner of dealing with things and his manner, with my accent and his accent, with my background and his background. He was a great public hero, and anything I did that someone didnt approve of, they would always feel that President Kennedy wouldnt have done that.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
“... every experience in life enriches ones background and should teach valuable lessons.”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
