Serial Numbers
The Fender Lead Series use the usual Fender United States serial number format where S = seventies and E = eighties, and the first digit of the serial number represents the year. For example S9XXXXX = 1979, E1XXXXX = 1981.
Fender Lead Series guitar serial numbers were installed on the headstock, inside body pocket, and back of the pick guard. An all original model should have the same serial number identifier on each of these major parts. More information can be found on the Fender Lead I, Fender Lead II, Fender Lead III manuals.

Famous quotes containing the words serial and/or numbers:
“And the serial continues:
Pain, expiation, delight, more pain,
A frieze that lengthens continually, in the lucky way
Friezes do, and no plot is produced,
Nothing you could hang an identifying question on.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“I had but three chairs in my house; one for solitude, two for friendship; three for society. When visitors came in larger and unexpected numbers there was but the third chair for them all, but they generally economized the room by standing up.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
