Prior Names
One of the former names of the team was Kommunarets which was in synchronization with the former name of Alchevsk – Kommunarsk in the honor of the Paris Commune. Its Communist revolutionary spirit can be noticed on the contemporary club's logo.
The language based idiocy can be clearly traced by the other eastern Ukrainian club FC Helios Kharkiv, the chairman of which even spelled the name of his club as Gelios (supposedly it is Latin for a god of the Sun) to avoid any approximation with the Ukrainian language.
