Fast Lane

Fast Lane is the RFID electronic toll collection system used in Massachusetts. Fast Lane is used on the Massachusetts Turnpike, Sumner Tunnel, Ted Williams Tunnel, and Tobin Bridge. It is also accepted at one parking structure operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Fast Lane is fully interoperable with the many E-ZPass facilities in other states, however, since mid-2002, Fast Lane users receive a discount on some tolls that E-ZPass users do not enjoy.

In 2012 the Department of Transportation began the process of converting all existing Fast Lanes to E-ZPass lanes and will phase out the Fast Lane name. With the change, the toll collection system will cease to have corporate sponsorship.

Famous quotes containing the words fast and/or lane:

Today’s pressures on middle-class children to grow up fast begin in early childhood. Chief among them is the pressure for early intellectual attainment, deriving from a changed perception of precocity. Several decades ago precocity was looked upon with great suspicion. The child prodigy, it was thought, turned out to be a neurotic adult; thus the phrase “early ripe, early rot!”
    David Elkind (20th century)

The question is whether personal freedom is worth the terrible effort, the never-lifted burden and risks of self-reliance.
    —Rose Wilder Lane (1886–1968)
