Farm To Market Road 802 - History

History

FM 802 was initially designated in 1948, consisting of a segment from US 83 eastward to SH 48. The same year saw a westward extension to US 281, and the eastern extension to FM 511 occurred in 1951. Originally, FM 802 followed Coffee Port Road through Brownsville, but the route was relocated to a more northerly alignment in 1975.

In 1995, the official designation of the route was changed by TxDOT to Urban Road 802 (UR 802); as with other urban roads, the route continues to be signed as FM 802.
