History

A previous route designated FM 2657 existed in Gregg and Harrison counties from 1960 to 1966; that route became part of FM 449. The current route became part of the state highway system in 1967, replacing the southern section of RM 963 to Briggs and the northern section of FM 2808 to Copperas Cove. The route was originally designated as RM 2657, and was changed from an RM to an FM in 1992.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The greatest honor history can bestow is that of peacemaker.
    Richard M. Nixon (1913–1995)

History is not what you thought. It is what you can remember. All other history defeats itself.
In Beverly Hills ... they don’t throw their garbage away. They make it into television shows.
Idealism is the despot of thought, just as politics is the despot of will.
    Mikhail Bakunin (1814–1876)

To summarize the contentions of this paper then. Firstly, the phrase ‘the meaning of a word’ is a spurious phrase. Secondly and consequently, a re-examination is needed of phrases like the two which I discuss, ‘being a part of the meaning of’ and ‘having the same meaning.’ On these matters, dogmatists require prodding: although history indeed suggests that it may sometimes be better to let sleeping dogmatists lie.
