Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer - Reboot

Reboot

Media news site IGN confirmed in 2009 that a reboot of the franchise will start in 2014. In 2012, Fox stated an interest in filming a reboot, based on the success of X-Men: First Class and The Amazing Spider-Man, the 2012 reboot of the Spider-Man film series. The studio would lose rights to the characters in 2015 if no film is made. Recently, Marvel Studios has been reported to be in talks to regain the rights to the Fantastic Four franchise in return for an extension of the rights to the Daredevil characters, as the latter is about to expire during pre-production of a reboot. This has been speculated to be primarily to regain the cosmic elements of the franchise, particularly the Silver Surfer and Galactus, to pave the way for a possible Defenders movie. In July 2012 Josh Trank, who had been in talks since early in the year, was announced as director of the reboot. The upcoming film will be produced by Fox and will share continuity with the X-Men series, though still separate from the official Marvel Cinematic Universe produced by Marvel Studios. The film titled The Fantastic Four will be released on March 6, 2015.
