The 2008-2009 cross country season was a historic one. The Fanshawe women's cross country team won Fanshawe’s third national title in the school’s 41 year history; the first time in 27 years since the men’s basketball team last accomplished the feat in the 1981 season. In addition to the men's 4th consecutive national medal, the result puts the Fanshawe Cross Country program on top of college running in Canada for the 2008-2009 season. Fanshawe was the only CCAA College to have two podium finishes at the National Championships. In 2009-2010, Fanshawe's cross country running teams also declared themselves National Champions, taking the top spot on the podiums for both men's and women's teams. This makes it the third consecutive year the ladies have captured the National Title. It is also noted that an affiliate club, the Fanshawe Black Falcons cheerleading, have consecutively achieved five PCA national championship titles since their birth in 2007. Although only unofficially recognized by the college as a sanctioned and recognized club, members are all full-time students enrolled at one of the Fanshawe campuses.
