Fame (soundtrack) - Franchise and Spin-offs

Franchise and Spin-offs

Fame spawned a television series of the same name with Lee Curreri, Albert Hague, Gene Anthony Ray and Debbie Allen reprising their respective roles, a spin-off TV series, and a musical that has played in London's West End since 1995. MGM has since produced a remake of this film, released in 2009. The remake received generally negative reviews in contrast to the original.

MGM owns the Fame franchise, except for the original movie. The movie was included in the studio's sale of its pre-1986 catalog to Turner Entertainment, later part of Time Warner; Warner Home Video has since re-issued the original film on DVD and Blu-ray. Though the Turner sale included all of MGM's rights to most of its pre-1986 films, MGM retained its overall rights to the Fame franchise as the TV series was still in production in 1986.

Famous quotes containing the word franchise:

...feminism differs from reform of any kind, even franchise reform. Feminists, I should say, are not reformers at all, but rather intellectual biologists and psychologists.
