Fall of Saigon - Terminology

Terminology

Various names have been applied to these events. The Vietnamese Government usually calls it the Liberation of Saigon or Giải phóng miền Nam (the liberation of the south), but Fall of Saigon is commonly used in Western accounts. It has also been called Sự kiện 30 tháng 4 (April 30 Incident) by the current Government, and is sometimes called Ngày mất nước (the day we lost our country/nation), Ngày Quốc Hận (National Hatred Day) or Tháng Tư Đen (Black April) by dissident Vietnamese refugees overseas.
