Fairy Lochs

The Fairy Lochs are a small group of lochans approximately 2 miles (3 km) SE of the village of Badachro near Gairloch in Wester Ross, Scotland.

The lochans are close to Loch Bràigh Horrisdale, which flows into the Badachro River (Scots Gaelic: Abhainn Bad a' Chrodha). There are several large waterfalls in the area, and the hill of Sìdhean Mor overlooks the Fairy Lochs and the bay of Loch Gairloch.

The lochs are remote and are accessed over farmland and along paths through marshy ground.

Famous quotes containing the word fairy:

There’s a quality of legend about freaks. Like a person in a fairy tale who stops you and demands that you answer a riddle. Most people go through life dreading they’ll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They’ve already passed their test in life. They’re aristocrats.
    Diane Arbus (1923–1971)
