Fafe Municipality

Fafe is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 219.1 km² and a total population of 53,528 inhabitants. The city itself has a population of 14,144.

The municipality is composed of 36 parishes, and is located in the Braga District.

The present Mayor is José Martins Ribeiro, elected by the Socialist Party.

Between 1907 and 1986 Fafe was served by the narrow gauge trains of the Guimarães line. The railway is now closed between Guimarães and Fafe.

The municipal holiday is May 16.
