Knothole Freedom Fighters
Many of the main protagonist characters are part of the Freedom Fighters, a group of rebels openly opposing the tyrannical oppression of Doctor Robotnik. The main base exists in Knothole, but there are also numerous other groups in different parts of the world as well. This group of characters was initially created for the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, and then used throughout the comic series.
